Brendan HillPurpose of Regional Advisory Forum

A foreword from Brendan Hill, Co-Chair of MHNE RAF

MHNE has undergone a significant organisational redesign, resulting in the development of a new Board for MHNE which has strengthened the governance of the charity.

Another key development agreed at our EGM last year was the formation of MHNE’s REGIONAL ADVISORY FORUM (RAF).RAF 3 This enable’s representation from across the region from locality based third sector networks that specialise in mental health and emotional well-being to come together to:-

Provide a member view and steer to MHNE Board of directors via existing locality networks or in absence of a locality network or forum a MHNE member from the locality themselves.

Provide advice and intelligence from local communities across the region to inform the development of MHNE’s strategic and operational plans   RAF 1

Engage with the wider membership of MHNE

Help share best practice throughout the region

Collate and review issues of concern/interest on behalf of members for MHNE Board.

Support MHNE’s organisation of member events

Advise on campaigning issues

The forum is informing, influencing and making recommendations to the MHNE board, and also responds to requests to assist in progressing the work of MHNE.

Those attending on behalf of their locality network or local area are committed to act as a conduit for information and consultation. This ensure’s that the forum has a key role in providing a ‘mandate’ for MHNE as a meaningful ‘voice’ for the sector.

Lyn Boyd'In this changing world, Mental Health North East wants to help its members remain resilient and build upon their strengths. MHNE believes that the wellbeing and mental health voluntary sector is well placed to respond to these very real challenges and to make the most of the opportunities that they present to us. We will therefore engage with agencies at the highest strategic level regionally to represent our members' views. We will then provide you with information and guidance we receive. We will also engage with you, our members to explore and highlight the challenges you are facing day to day and the successes you achieve.'
